🌊 What is this?

Welcome to my music log! ♡

This page is basically a small journal where I keep track of the music I like — aka give my non-relevant girly opinions :) But I'll mostly share my favorite artists, songs, personal thoughts and some random recommendations for you.

I don't really listen to one specific genre or like to put myself in a box, because I'm too lazy to be that performative lol. But nevertheless you will find the same kind of vibe going over and over again (although I say I listen to everything, you will DEFINITELY not catch me listening to Country Music lmao).

Overall, think of this page as a personal archive of the music that has been part of my life recently.

The Neighbourhood

Looking back at current events in my life, it would be weird if I didn't recommend The Neighbourhood first — I literally just went to their concert. My sister and I actually wanted to go to their concert in 2019 but they mysteriously cancelled it and never talked about it (for a long time I thought I was just hallucinating that they had planned that tour date. It would've also been in a small club venue which — HELLO? — would've definitely added to the whole lore of me being a hardcore fan since I was 12.)

Everything about their music — the guitar, bass and drums sounding so raw and intimate, the lyrics somehow always being relatable (or at least for me, ahem), and not to forget Jesse's god-given vocals just carrying the entire discography in a way no other singer could — makes them so iconic. I don't want to sound cringe but I would consider them one of the iconic bands of the 2010s, especially with their strong connection to Tumblr: setting trends back then and still doing it now, with old hits resurfacing in recent years and gaining traction like "Softcore" and "Reflections." These were songs I already loved before they blew up through TikTok and the editing culture around it. I feel like this is something kids will study in music history in like 40 years, and The Neighbourhood will be the example — because do you know any other band that got bigger than they ever were after their hiatus, just because their songs hit billions of streams on TikTok and ultimately caused them to come back? I don't think so.
